The V8 Supercar Series, an international, world class car racing event is strongly supported by many MTAA Super members, particularly those members that work in the motoring industry. In recognition of the importance that the V8 Supercar Championship Series plays in promoting the Australian motoring industry and the associated trade professionals and as a bi-partisan measure, MTAA Super also sponsors both the Holden Racing Team and Ford Performance Racing Team.
MTAA Super also sponsors the V8 Supercars Series as a means of better communicating with our young membership who are generally not as engaged with their superannuation arrangements. Once engaged, we believe there is a far greater likelihood that the Fund can help members to learn more about their superannuation and insurance in order for them to properly provide for a secure working life and an adequate retirement benefit for themselves and their families.
As an integral part of the sponsorship arrangements with V8 Supercars Australia, MTAA Super also seeks to encourage young students into the retail motor trades and to support existing apprentices already studying through a number of initiatives.
Lifeline Australia is a not for profit organisation that delivers a range of national counselling and support services that address social issues in the community. These support services include counselling services, suicide prevention and awareness programs and mental health and wellbeing initiatives. MTAA Super partnered with Lifeline Australia to launch a joint initiative in 2004 called readthesigns. The readthesigns initiative aims to promote help-seeking by creating awareness of mental health issues and suicide prevention among the members of MTAA Super and employers in the retail motor trades and allied industries. The initiative provides individuals with information on the best places and services to seek help when going through a difficult time and ways to recognise and respond to family or friends who might be in need of assistance.
