THE INTERNATIONAL SHARES OPTION

Strategic Asset Allocation as at 1 November 2009

Objective: The International Shares Option seeks high returns in the long term through an exposure to global market risk. It includes an exposure to both developed country overseas equity and emerging market equity. The percentage allocation to emerging markets is set equal to the weight of emerging markets in the MSCI All Countries World (ex-Australia) Index. It aims to outperform an average of the return on the MSCI World (ex-Australia) Index and the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, weighted by the relative contributions of each to the MSCI All Countries World (ex-Australia) Index (before fees and tax). MTAA Super reviews the proportion of emerging markets exposure annually.

Strategy: This option seeks high returns in the long term. The objective is to maintain a substantial diversified exposure to global market risk. The option consists of listed overseas shares in developed and emerging markets.

Level of risk: Very high. This option is likely to exhibit return volatility in the short term and might produce negative returns from time to time. The option has significant exposure to global market risk and is subject to a high degree of market risk through daily movements in the market value of listed equity and underlying currency movements. This results in higher volatility of returns in the medium term in comparison with other options. It has exposure to market risk and currency risk.

Typical investor: Members who are able to take on above-average risk with an investment horizon of at least seven years.
