Avoid paying additional tax on your super by letting us know your tax file number
Where you provide your TFN to your employer, your employer is now obligated to provide it to MTAA Super. You are not obligated to provide your TFN to your employer, or to MTAA Super, but there may be consequences if you do not, such as:
- Any Superannuation Guarantee or employer (concessional*) contributions made to MTAA Super in excess of $1000 will be taxed at the top marginal tax rate, plus Medicare Levy.
- You cannot make after-tax (non-concessional) contributions at all if you don't tell us your tax file number.
If you have provided your tax file number to your employer they may have passed it on to MTAA Super, but you should check to avoid paying extra tax.
Provide TFN
*Concessional contributions include employer superannuation guarantee contributions, additional employer contributions, salary sacrifice contributions and contributions made by the self-employed for which they claim a tax deduction.
